i have not been posting anything for quite a while! reason was, that we have been travelling a lot, i have been ill and the last project (this coat) took me a long time to finish: but here we go!
the pattern is from burdastyle: the “adam” coat. i changed it around a bit: the shoulders are smaller now, the coat is 10 cm longer and i took in quite a lot of the wide backside. the material is (and that was, why i have been so afraid of doing this) the most expensive, i ever payed for, cashmere and the lining is a silk changeant from goldish to grey.
i never have been handsewing so much as on this coat, to give it the right look, and even it took me so long and it was quite a “fight” to finish it, i am very happy with the result and hope you all like it as well
the outfit you see me wearing “under” my coat is made by me as well!
outside 100 % cashmer in black
lining silk in gold / grey changeant
black metallbuttons

I’ve been eyeing this pattern and your version has sold me. So fantastic! I love the attention to details that you’ve done included the stitch on the lining. Great work!

You did a beautiful job! I really love your vest! I’m working on the same coat for my brother and am having a hard time understanding the pocket flaps. It seems like the instruction picture is telling me to put them on upside down? Do you stitch them on so the outer fabric is facing out or the lining is facing out? Then I’m guessing you fold them down? Sorry – any insight would be so helpful! Thanks!

dear! i am so sorry, i did not looked at your comment until now. i do use a special technique for my pockets, wich i have from a german book about sewing, so i did not follow the instructions of the original pattern.

Truly a masterpiece! The handstitching on the outside through to the embroidery on the lining shows how much love has gone into this, inside and out. I bet it feels so wonderful to wear. I love the way the neckpiece wraps round. Really cosy. And of course it teams beautifully with my favourite suit of yours! I can’t quite believe its a Burda pattern…. look out Vogue you’ve got hot competition on your heels! x

dear janene! thank you so so much for your kind compliments and lovely words. i just hope that the team of burda finally wakes up and realises, that there are men out there, interested in new patterns as well (if they need any ideas, they are most wellcome to as me :-)
the neckpiece-bit was really tricky, but now i am so happy that it worked out and looks so nice!
