I have got to say, this dress was worth the effort. I made it from the Vintage Vogue Model 1954 pattern and such beautiful fabric I found at JoAnn’s on clearance. I used vintage red buttons, and a crinoline I took out of one of my vintage 1950’s ballgowns, which I pinned up, and then lined the dress with.
I spent all of last night hand sewing a blind hem and also hand sewing stitches into the sleeves until it was perfect. I probably spent about four days altogether working on this lovely project. The pattern was so easy!
I adore this dress! Although, I do feel a little like a Betty Draper cupcake. :/

wonderful, so adorable! I love 1950s dresses (been making 50s style dresses from vintage patterns myself lately) and you did a really, really great job on this one!

hey! That is so fantastic, it is almost “un-werable”. Or it does not even matter if it’s wearable or not. It is a collection piece, that you don’t touch, but put it in a shop window and look at it. Just gorgeous!

I definitely agree! I’ve been keeping it on my dress form just to look at! Although, I did wear it out to a burlesque show last night and they had me come up on stage to show off! So flattered!

Great dress, the fabric choice is perfect. I adore Betty Draper’s sense of fashion, so there is much worse than feeling like her ;-)
