This shirt ended up being a little louder than I had anticipated, but I love wearing it. The collar is larger and stands a little taller than I would like, hence the 70’s reference. If I made it again, I would size the collar down a bit. This was McCalls 5433 (The Perfect Shirt) which the instructions claim is a 3 hour shirt…. ha! I spent hours and hours working on this. There were a lot of details which took time, but then again I had not made a button down shirt before and was not familiar with the construction and terms. I’m really happy with the fit. I lengthened it just a bit and used a different print on the cuffs and placket. Any tips on getting button holes not to fall apart? My machine has a button hole setting but I’ve found that they don’t last very long before the stitching frays and comes apart.

I use seam sealer on the button hole before I cut it open. This keeps all those pesky stray threads tamed. Great blouse, good fit, and perfect fabric for the style.
