Burda Style For people who sew
Description
I made this dress using Butterick 5486. It was a good learning experience, and there are a few things I’ll do different next time. Before I made it I didn’t consider myself a maxi-dress person, but I fell in love with this one! I love it for the summer :)
I can’t remember the exact material, but I believe it is some sort of cotton blend. It was wonderful to work with.

What a gorgeous dress! A fabulous pattern for a maxi dress combined with a beautiful fabric. I’m getting ready to sew a maxi dress for myself, but I’m lengthening a pattern I already have (though, had I known about this pattern before I cut the top…). If you don’t mind my asking, how wide is the dress at the bottom? I want to make sure I have enough room at the bottom to walk, but I’ve never made a maxi dress before. Your version looks like the perfect amount of skirt. Thanks!

I found the pattern you used online, and it listed the dimensions. It’s about 6" longer and 6" wider than the pattern I’m using (which, again, was not originally designed to be a maxi dress), so I’ll likely be using the dimensions from your pattern. I’m so excited to have the confidence to cut my dress pieces. Thanks again!

ooh do you still need the dimensions? When I first started it I was a little worried it might not be long enough (I worry a little too much about everything), but it came out with enough length to wear with heels! I’m glad I could help.
