I’ve long longed for a pair of sailor pants, but they never fit or are in my budget. Patterns are likewise hard to come by. So I’ve drafted my own based on a pair of faux sailor pants on loan from a friend. I tested the pattern with this cream-coloured stretch denim (given to me by a neighbour who was cleaning out her fabric stash), but omitted the buttons and the welt pockets on the back — I just wanted to make sure I had the fit right. I’m pretty pleased and can’t wait to choose fabric and buttons for the real deal!
