Description

i whipped this up from a vintage vogue pattern, 7016. i say whipped up because it took about two hours, which is definitely light speed sewing for me:)

i find that vintage vogue has roughly three thousand inches of sewing ease. even though this pattern was a size smaller than my vintage size, i still had to take it in quite a bit.

the material, some sort of chiffon, was a dream to work with. it was a remnant, so i have no idea what it is specifically, and i wish i did! not too slippery, serged up beautifully. any guesses out there?

If I wore a shirt like this, I don’t think I would ever stop smiling. It’s beautiful!

This top is gorgeous and looks amazing on you. I love a bit of colour in fabric and this fabric definitely lights up your pretty face. This chiffon may be a Japanese chiffon with a cotton content. I have a floral top in my studio that was made with a cotton chiffon and it was a dream to sew. In fact, I would love it if all fabric was like that to sew, especially the soft, draping, flowing fabrics!!!

that sounds right, it has a slight stiffness to it that is wonderful… i love that the usual chiffon slippery-ness was not an issue. i’ll be seeking out cotton chiffon on my next trek, thanks schnui! (and thank you for the lovely compliments :)
