The A-Plus A-LIne skirt is the first project I’ve completed from the book “Twinkle Sews,” which has some really great projects in it. The pattern calls for wool, but who knew wool was so darn expensive!? I used this teal corduroy instead, hoping it could be my holiday skirt this year. (Nice enough for a party but not too fancy, you know?) Anyway, I used the size 12 pattern because the instructions said to use the size that matched your hips plus 2 centimetres ease. My hips are kinda wide, so the size 12 mostly fit though I’m a pretty small lady. When I tried it on, the skirt hem hit me mid-calf, so I looked Amish (or Orthodox, or what have you) so I cut a full four inches off the bottom hem. I’m pretty happy with the result. If you use patterns from Twinkle sews, make sure to measure yourself and adjust the pattern accordingly. Don’t go by what you THINK your size should be.

I’m glad I read your post, I am cutting a similar amount off my bottom edge this evening as I too am somewhat short. I’m thinking the length is going to be on the knee and I noticed that yours is around there and looks really nice, are you happy with the length?

Your skirt is awesome! I love that you chose to make it in courderoy :D
I’ve been reluctant to make any of her patterns bc they’re drafted as full instead of half patterns on a fold & I’ve wondered if there’s any problem with symmetry?
Damn, I acidentally marked my own comment as inappropriate while trying to edit it. Darn tiny phone screens!
