Second outfit from my final collection at Uni “The Honey Trap”. The Initial inspiration for my collection came from the Exposed: voyeurism, surveillance and the camera exhibition at the Tate Modern. Exposed offered a look at pictures made on the sly, without the explicit permission of the people depicted. This exhibition led me to look into espionage and most notably, the lives of well-known female spies including Mata Hari, Josephine Baker and Noor Inayat Khan. Further research showed many spies were hired to seduce their target (this method is known as the ‘honey trap’) With this in mind i wanted my collection to be quite seductive and colourful to represent the colourful lives of the women i researched.
Spies who were caught often ended up in concentration camps or were killed, i decided to design my own prints based on the enigma machine and incorporated chains, barbed wire and stripes to give it a more sinister feel. The collection was also influenced by 1940’s fashion.
I drafted the bra from a pattern i already had but made adjustments and the tap pants were drafted on a stand. The bra has foam cups.
