Tank Top – BurdaStyle 3/2012 #119a
Kanzashi Flowers – Burdastyle 5/2011
Apart from a couple of kanzashi flowers I made last year in Indonesian batik, I have just tried sewing my first patterned BurdaStyle garment. I stitched this tank top in good timing, using an untouched early ’70’s photographic collage fabric remnant, that I found in my vintage stash, but didn’t know what to do with. Check out the groovy couple on this summery-themed print, lol! I bias bound the edges with the same fabric. I omitted to add the bow which wouldn’t really go with the style of fabric, and regrettably I had to take off a few centimeters on the lower half of each tapered side due to being short on fabric. This makes the tank cling way more around the stomach region than I’d like it to lol. The updated pattern otherwise really transforms the vintage fabric nicely. I am enjoying learning to sew on a machine and reading BurdaStyle. Btw, not being vain but all my pics here on BurdaStyle are of me, haha
