  I’m so (having a hard time -edit) doing this!!

  Can I mention the fact that the instructions for assembly is merely the copied normal Talea Version, which does not at all suffice for this edited version. 1. There’s no mention of pocket assembly. 2. There’s no mention of putting the collar together before attaching it. 2.a. There’s also no mention of sewing the jacket together fronts to backs at shoulder seam. I feel very lucky I have put a jacket together beforehand, otherwise I would be lost. 3. There’s no instruction on how you got it to slope down on your sample. 4. You told me to turn my front princess seam to the side which would run over the pocket that you never told me to put on. Thanks.

  This is a really beautiful coat. I’m a novice sewer but this pattern will keep me motivated. I’m going to make it one day (maybe even with the big plaid pattern). watch this space! Meanwhile I’m starting with a humbler creation (a dress, 8351). Wish me luck.

  Benedikta, I love that you were so honest about your iron-burning/last minute sewing mishap. I was thinking the same thing as some other commenters… “hm… if these guys can’t match the plaids, there’s no way I can either.” It’s good to remind ourselves that even pros can make mistakes! I’ve got a ton of gorgeous vintage wool plaid from an estate sale and I want to do something special with it, but I’m assessing the risk factor with this coat. Hm….

  Hi Everybody!
  Honestly, I think it is really hard to match the plaid and I would probably suggest to anyone to choose an easier fabric. The reason why the back is so weird is because a little mishap happened to us the last minute before the photoshoot: we burned the entire back panel with the iron, which was on a setting way to high for the woolen material. Consequently we had to take the back panel out and replace it with the remaining scraps of the fabric in the last minutes before the shoot. You see our sewing is just as prone to accidents as any of yours, but often, even if not in this case, those accidents turn out to be great!

  it looks a bit unmatched down the back… but otherwise this is a lovely piece of work! Maybe I’ll try it once I’m done sewing my line up of other projects… hoo boy.

  I would LOVE to make this… I’m only beginning to make my own clothes, and I’m hoping this isn’t too complicated… I’ll keep my eye out for some plain burgundy fabric, black buttons, and black lining.

  So long as I don’t wear a checkered scarf with it I won’t look too much like Doctor Who!

  I love the shape of this coat, and I’m going to make this but probably out of plain bright fabric so I don’t have to worry about matching it up. If I start soon it should be ready for next winter!

  You obviously had a hard time matching the fabric. The mismatched plaid makes it hard to decide whether I like the pattern or not, especially as the back looks so weird.

  Did I read that a more fitted, belted version would be coming as well? This particular one isn’t my favorite shape but I think it’s great to have several variations to fit different body types!

  I like it…that fabric looks like a tough one to match up, but I’m so down with the plaid…
