Description

My first jacket/raincoat! We’re going to the Seattle/Portland area next week and I hear it gets pretty wet there, so I decided to make myself a raincoat. I got this great lightweight fabric on the dollar rack and used the rest of the green silky fabric I already had as the lining. The lining was an afterthought so I had to do some reverse engineering to figure out how to get it in. First time to do a lining—they’re tricky! To make it a true raincoat, I sprayed fabric waterproofing stuff on it (no staining, dries in seconds!). Oh, and I added side pockets—can’t have a jacket without pockets!

Material Notes

Polyester blend, silky type fabric as lining

looks great and very wearable! I love waterproofing spray as well, it’s great because it also prevents most stains!

That color is the best and I love the lining. Linings are so great when they’re delightful surprises like that.

I love it. Have you tried it in the rain? How does it hold up?
