it wasn´t fun to make! many sewing machine needles broke, a hard piece of work! i stich, undo, stich, undo,… for ten days i do nothingelse as working on this coat. finally it´s ready! with much stiching by hand and hurting fingertips. but in the end i´m very proud of it!
edit 28.10.2008: I added a new and not so heavy lining, added pockets at the front and removed 2 of the shoulder taps.

hey sweetgrasspinapple!
thanks for your comment. i will try this coat maybe with a lighter knit fabric next year for spring. i think you can use many different fabrics for this coat – the pattern is really great and you have many possibilities on it. maybe corduroy or a simple cotton fabric would be good.
i would be glad to see your version of this coat here! good luck!

Great job! I have a question actually…I’ve had my eye on this coat for a while, but I don’t really like wool jackets (and my boyfriend’s allergic to them :-P)…do you have any suggestions on a fabric that would be good for this project?

yay! you are my hero! i first saw this pattern in Burda Easy Fashion and though, “ha, that doesn’t look very easy at all.” it looks wonderful on you. great work! i have problems sewing through many layers of wool also, not because the needle breaks but because it won’t fit under the presser foot or gets stuck. sometimes i just sew as far as i can, and do the really thick parts by hand :) congratulations on this feat!

Amazing! It really seems you’re the first one who worked up the courage to do this coat. And all your hard work definitely pays off. Grats!

thank you all for your nice comments!!!
@ En.ka: i know the different needles ;) i used the right one for this fabric, but it was to thick; especially at the collar lie four sites of each other, so my sewing machine (the needles…) work anymore.
@ Pinkhibiscus: i get the fabric in a big store (here called “karstadt”) here it´s the only store where i can get fabrics that i can pay :/
