It finally feels like spring here (despite the occasional snowstorm…), so this is my spring dress! I turned the JJ pattern into a dress by extending the bottom into a skirt; I also omitted the ruffles. I had a ton of this swiss dot cotton left over from my apron project (I can’t resist sale fabric!) – it’s a little sheer but a slip underneath does the trick. I’m happy because I think this is one of the most wearable dresses I’ve made so far, and I feel like I’ve improved my sewing a lot compared to a year ago!

i love this? i have a question tho….did you cut the pattern only to the waist and then extend? or did you cut the pattern out as if you were making a regular blouse then extend into the skirt? sorry to be a bother but i just think its so gorgeous!

Thank you! I’m not sure I totally understand the question – do you mean did I cut a new pattern to make it a dress or just extend from the blouse pattern? I used the blouse pattern as it already was and then extended down from the waist, kind of in an a-line skirt shape. I ended up making some adjustments to the sizing later on, but it still worked pretty well.

Beautiful dress and love the fabric. I think this might be the dress that I am going to actually make for myself! Have been sewing nothing but baby clothes lately. Keep up the great work!
