I created this dress using a technique in the second Pattern Magic book where you sew up a muslin, draw design lines all over it, cut along these lines, then introduce snips of ease until the pieces lie flat, and there’s your new pattern! I started with a sheath dress from the June 2012 Burda magazine (not available here for some reason) and created these swirls, then sewed it up using opposing rights of a stretch duchesse satin to get texture in the same salmon colour.
This dress was over a year in the making, and involved a LOT of easing into those curved seams, but I love the finished result!
