I made this outfit and its match (see pic) for the One Pattern Wardrobe challenge on Pattern Review. I made four garments: hot pants and matching tunic, jacket and matching slacks. I used McCalls 2242, a vintage “coordinates” pattern from 1969 that I bought on Etsy. The jacket is very much in the spirit of late Sixties Yves Saint Laurent.
I created two outfits: one, youthful and hip, the other, more mature and elegant. Once again I am fortunate that my identical cousin Cathy was available to model these outfits on the streets of glamorous Chelsea, NYC.

Which Cathy outfit do you prefer?
I used two types of houndstooth I bought in the Garment District: one, a black and white oversized houndstooth double knit and the other a black and red printed cotton twill.

I like the young Cathy. What do you do with all of these outfits once you make them?

I’m quite sure you have an entire wardrobe. Why don’t you try selling them? You have a large fan base and I’m quite sure someone would love the have them :-)

Thing is, they’re all the same size….

Great! Then you can name your collection after the size of the clothes. i.e. Lady Six :-)

Yeah yeah! It must have been quite an experience to match the squares while keeping your sanity… I think Cathy is a winner on the black and white outfit. Excellent job, congratulations.

The young and hip is just too good to pass up. The more mature is lovely though!
