I enrolled on a swimming workout course (you know, aerobics or something in a pool) and needed of course a swimsuit for it. I never find any suitable swimsuits in stores, only bikinis, so I had to make it myself. I love vintage clothing so I decided to make the swimsuit also with a vintage vibe. I really liked the Cindy bathing suit here on BurdaStyle, but couldn’t be bothered to print & tape the pattern so I made my own pattern using my bikini bottom and a tank top for the upper part.
Now I know a little bit better how to sew swimsuits, so I’m already planning to do another one, which I hope will be better :D

I would love to get your pattern for this suit. Is it posted here or somewhere else?

Thank you for your comments :)
It is one piece, although the top isn’t attached to the bottom at the front, but the sides and the back are all like in a one piece suit. Now I’ve managed to test in the pool, and it turned out to be just fine, it acted out like a normal store-bought swimming suit :)

I really really really like this one! Especially the wide straps – for some reason they look better than the narrower ones would or a strapless look. You did great!!!!

I love this! I’ve been dying to have a swim suit exactly like this, and thought that sewing it might be interesting. Is it one piece?

super gathering on the front, and the shape looks really good as well. i suppose the point with bathing suits is also how they behave when wet, maybe that makes it difficult.
