If there were a tribe of Japanese 14 year olds they would wear this dress.
I combined a gathered skirt with the bodice of pattern J and the sleeves of pattern M from the Stylish dress book 2. I also made a sash in the same fabric because the dress really needed shape (pics without the sash can be seen at my blog. I usually don’t go for babydoll dresses on my body type and now I remember why.
I was pretty excited about this print until I realized it was a polyester blend, which explains all the static cling now. (any suggestions to help with the cling would be really appreciated!!)
This dress wasn’t a total bust, I haven’t worked this neat on a garment since my husbands Jochen shorts. My topstitching and patience have improved significantly, and I am actually beginning to enjoy the cutting process!
Cotton Poly blend (yuck)

Nice dress! You could try Static Guard spray for the cling problem. I used it years ago & it used to work most of the time.

It’s so lovely! What a shame it clings, that’s so annoying to wear stuff like that. I love the shape of it and your photos are very nice. It says novice, though – surely not!

It is actually very very simple. The Japanese pattern books stick to easy shapes and seams so this was a cinch… a couple of darts, a few gathers and straight stitches to join them all!
And I think the cling is wearing off, I wore the dress all day today and felt oh so pretty!! :)
