Inspired by fairy-kei and the lilac colourway of the infamous (at least to those who are part of lolita communities) Sugary Carnival print by Angelic Pretty, I made this dress. I’m not really happy with it, sadly—althoug the lace hem, zipper, and top makes me really happy, the back shirring is a mess (elastic thread, I hate you) pleating at the front I swear is off centre and the straps are uneven as well as being fused to cotton tape with hemming tape as that was literally all the useable material I had left over—for those reasons I’ve only worn this dress out once. Although I don’t think the general public will see the flaws, I know they are there and it bugs me so much! Pattern was really really simple—two upside down trapezoids for the top at approx. bust+10cm and waist+10cm to allow for seam allowance, gathered rectangle for the skirt (2.5m hem right around I think…)
Got the fabric from the op-shop--think it's linen, but only because it sort of feels like a linen tablecloth what with the slubs in it. Was really nice to work with.
