I love the look of paper bag topped shorts/pants/skirts and I was dying for a new pair of not too short not too long shorts. My sister mailed me this adorable printed cotton and I knew I needed to make it into something worthy of its charm. I used a pair of pants for my pattern (my favorite jeans aka. the same pair I used for my pantastic sailor digs) I used organic cotton for the pockets and lining.
These shorts turned out pretty well I think. I love the print and I think the bag pleats show it off well. The yellow buttons were an impulsive addition and I’m glad I stuck to my instincts!
These pictures were taken on our walk from our little guest house to the beach in Sri Lanka. We stayed outside of Colombo- the capital. It was a great place to visit. I wish, as with all journeys taken, that I could have stayed longer.

I love this style of pants. Great fabric and cute buttons! I love the paper bag effect at the top and the pleats. Too bad I can’t use your pattern as well! :-) Are you still sewing by hand or do you have a sewing machine?
