Description

I bought this delicious black and white silk dupion a few months ago and it went straight into the ever-growing pile of ‘had-to-buy’ fabric in my sewing room. Ever since then, each time I’ve walked into my sewing room, it has stared at me with it’s lil’ puppy-dog eyes and pleaded ‘sew-me, sew-me.’ Unable to say no to something so innocent and pure (it is 100% silk you know) I rolled up my creative sleeves and gave the fabric a reason to live.

The result is a cute-sy simple little dress which I’ve made before but haven’t yet quite got it out of my system. I like it.

    Lovely dress! That collar is fantastic, and a great choice of fabric. (Like the red of the props you’ve used for the photos, too – they set it off beautifully.)

      Thanks! I used some poly satin bias binding to finish the hem, which also helped the fabric to stick out a little bit.

    How does anyone make a skirt that sticks up…if u know what i mean without loadsss of itchy tulle underneath!

      It’s all in the fabric! The silk dupioni refused to stay flat.

    I must admit that I am not very keen on Peter Pan collars. Apart from that, I love everything about this dress and it looks absolutely stunning on you. Awesome job on the pattern matching on the front too!
