I found this brightly colored Superman sheet at the thrift store and knew I had to make it into geeky dress. I wanted to make a back cutout to echo the Superman logo. I used McCall’s 5845 as the basis for my bodice, but I modified the neckline to be more like the ever-popular BurdaStyle 2/2011 magazine’s dress #101. I used a simple gathered rectangle for the skirt, but I added pockets.
More details and photos here.
Step by step directions for modifying an existing bodice pattern with a center back zipper for a back cutout can be found here.
cotton/poly blend twin flat sheet, red polyester zipper, muslin for lining, hook and eye

Oh my! I have that exact same sheet and haven’t figured what to do with mine yet! That logo cut-out is super clever.

This is gorgeous and funny at the same time, the superman cutout on the back of the dress is very nice idea too!
