I don’t wear shorts. I only own a couple of pairs for when I play soccer, and if I could I would play soccer in skirts! During the summer I rotate through my favorite skirts and I think that a well worn skirt looks fabulous on any figure. This is my ‘evening’ skirt, for when I want to go out on the town and dance! I paired this plaid skirt with a lose sequined top. The sequined top was super simple to make, with only three seams sewn by hand. The skirt has an asymmetrical gather and the fitted yolk stops right at the top of the hip.

I have to ask, where did you source the sequin fabric? Was it difficult to work with? I’ve been thinking of a New Year’s Eve dress in silver sequin.

I live by one of the largest fabric stores in the US, too close actually!! I can walk there, yikes! They have a large bridal department, which in turn has a large sequin fabric selection. Sewing with sequin fabric isn’t hard, just really time consuming. Generally designs with little amounds of seams work the best. For the top I hand sewed the seams. When using a machine you can remove the sequins in the seam allowance and then sew them back on when you are done. Yes, alot of work but worth looking sassy for NYE!

You make so many clothes. Are they all for yourself? I like your style and creativity. Plus your photos are fun too!
