I feel like a kids TV presenter in my yellow skirt!
I’ve been wanting to try a paper bag waist for some time and quite fancied a skirt in egg yolk yellow. This tutorial was pretty good for helping me get my head around the mathematics, I managed to get it a little bit wrong as the pleats aren’t totally evenly spaced from the centre back seam.
I deviated from the tutorial a bit in that I added a grown on lining.
I also made a lazy error with my pleats and sewed them down with two long rows of stitching all around the waist rather than sewing each pleat individually (step 4), this makes the skirt look a bit weird without a belt.
I’m definitely going to make more of these in different colours, I’ll make them a bit shorter and maybe try to add side seams for inseam pockets (or maybe some cool lotus pockets). It’s quick and easy to make and you end up with a nice skirt.
