Finally you can see my favorite sister Dina :) For all of you who had a doubt about her existence, that behind the camera was my imaginary sister (or only my camera and tripod), I have a sister, and she is real!
She had a wedding to attend to, and for that occasion she needed a new dress.. Few weeks earlier, in one of my visits to the fabric store I found this cotton fabric with butterfly print, and bought it to make something for Dina.. My first association when I looked at the print was a moth covering Jodie Foster’s mouth on the movie poster for The Silence Of The Lambs :D As usual, Dina tried on my dresses to find the one she likes, and wanted me to sew her Plainsong dress .. My idea was a bit different.. I wanted to try pattern # 133 from Burda 08/2012, and convinced her that the butterfly fabric would look better with this bodice, than with the one I used for Plainsong dress.. In the end I combined the bodice from pattern #133, Burda 08/2012 and a full circle skirt.. There was no problems with the fit of the bodice.. The dress is fully lined.. I like how it turned out and can’t wait to make one for myself..
The dress was finished about a half an hour before she had to go to the wedding.. My plan was to take photos before she leaves, knowing that it’s now or never.. As it happens with girls, she was late with dressing up.. Her boyfriend and his parents were waiting in car for about 10 minutes so we could take a few shots of the dress in the backyard of our building (not the best choice for the background).. This was a quickest photo-shoot ever..
