I made this pattern by tracing a sleeveless top and adding a sweetheart neckline element to it. The tops aren’t perfect, but still, I’m really happy with them because they seem to have a positive summery quality and I actually find myself wearing them (read: they have not met the fate of most of my other sewing projects, namely, being stashed in a far, dark corner of my closet, to be discovered during a future spring cleaning expedition).
The bottom part in both versions is a lightweight cotton knit fabric. The top part of the pink version is some kind of a light woven cotton (my fabric knowledge is so lacking!) with a linen-like feel to it. The top part of the blue top is a “silky” scarf that was sacrificed for this project, except that it is not silk but rather a some kind of a synthetic chiffon. I went with ribbing on one version and no ribbing on the other.
cotton knit and woven fabric; chiffon; ribbing.
