Description
Dress made from a pattern altered to achieve this look so romantic. I took advantage of the striped fabric to make pleats on the front and “play” with this. This dress I was baptized as “summer sky dress”, because the beautiful colors of the fabric reminds me the color of the sky in summer and the “waves” formed by the folds of the front remind me how sweet summer weather.
Material Notes
Two meters of cotton, buttons.
Difficulty
Intermediate

Oh wow, I can’t imagine the amount of work that went into this! The pin-tucking, the lace-edged petticoat, the carved buttons, even the little flower on the collar. You really thought this all out!

Thanks, Alasmydear! This dress was really a beautiful process of construction, the ideas were emerging from the fabric and then adding details.

Really clever – the look of the wave tucks changes as the light changes, so they really are like waves!

That innovative form of pintucking makes all the difference in what could’ve been just a very simple ho-hum dress. Brilliant that you chose to see the effect on a striped fabric. Very lovely and well done!
