Description

This dress makes me feel like I should be down at the park having a picnic and luckily the Queensland weather is cooperating at the moment. I am not a big fan of summer but with this dress I may be a little more enthusiastic this year. I used a printed cotton voile from Spotlight. It is nice and light and floaty for summer. Instead of having a matching tie I used some sating ribbon instead. I was afraid it would slip and become untied while I was wearing it but it held up really well all day.

Material Notes

cotton voile. satin ribbon. very easy vogue 8380

Also, I just noticed that you live on the Gold Coast. I’m coming up to the Gold Coast for a weeks holiday just after Chrissy, do you have any suggestions for some good fabric stores up there? Not necessarily expensive ones, just something other than Spotlight, which is all I have here in Newy. Thanks :) (although I just noticed you said you got this fabric from Spotlight. I haven’t seen that one here in Newy, otherwise I would have bought the entire roll, i love it)

I mainly get all my fabrics from Spotlight. There are a few others around the place but they are not all that great and can be expensive. I like Spotlight because it has a wide range and is relatively cheap. There is one in Southport called Lisa’s Designer Fabrics that has nice stuff but can be a bit expensive although I haven’t been there in a while. Also Fabric Frenzy at Nerang does some good stuff. There is also one at Robina called The Fabric Shop which I have never been to but their website looks good.

I love this dress, and I love the fabric you used too. You look absolutely gorgeous.

I just bought a pattern for a dress just like this. Yours makes me want to make it right now, despite not having any good fabric for it yet.
