This linen maternity dress continues my summer linen collection, originally made for the sea holiday in Liguria: short sleeveless dress with under bust gathers. The only downside of linen – the fact that it’s quickly and easily wrinkled, is fully compensated by many advantages: the dress can be washed every day, it dries quickly, in the summer it is cool and nice to feel the touch of a natural fabric. As a starting point I took this dress from Burda 6/2012: I changed the neckline, decided to sew sleeveless version for better ventilation and lifted the drapeline from the waist under the bust for a growing baby bump. On the back I substituted gathers with a fold. The rough-textured linen is from the stash of Belarusian fabric, I prewashed the fabric before cutting to avoid surprises after the first wash. I’ve noticed that over time the material has become even softer and more pleasant to the touch. More pics on my blog
