Burda Style For people who sew

I wish the weather here would finally comply, so I could wear this dress outside…soon. The fabric is the most beautiful vibrant silk and a birthday gift from my mum. (Thanks mum :-) I used my bodice block for the top and made two fabric tubes for the straps. The skirt consists of two rectangular pieces that I gathered at the waist…very easy and quick to make.
In the back I added an exposed zipper. I know people say this trend is pass, but I think not :-) I am crazy about exposed heavy zippers, especially when paired with delicate fabrics like silk.

I LOVE everything about this dress. It’s fun and feminine, the back is very interesting and sexy and works great with the more simple necline of the front. Gorgeous fabric. and the exposed zipper works perfectly… Argh, this is one of those dresses that make me soooo frustrated I’m not able to just think something up and make it in a jist…

That’s great! I’ve found that once you have that block, you can make all sorts of alterations and even beginners, like myself, can do it :-)

Yes, but once you have your own bodice block the rest is very easy. There are great tutorials for bodice blocks out there and it really makes life easier when you have one :-)
