Inspired by a wrap dress i saw on m-sewing and a dress worn by Blake Lively, I made this dress along with a few of my own ideas. I bought the fabric as a souvenir while I was visiting my Sis-in-laws town.
The body of the dress material is chiffon/crepe chiffon and its fully lined with soft polyester. Whole dress cut on bias attached with two layers of flounce. I sewed the raw edges of the neck of the wrap with bias binding and hand stitched it to the lining, which took for ever, coz I had to make sure i dint pick the top-printed layer of the dress while hemming it. Also It took me a while to figure out how to do the edges of the flounce. I test stitched bias tape, but I dint like the look so finally used the zig-zig with the Rolled hemming foot. One of the ties is two circular flounces stitched together, the other is cut on the straight grain. there are actually four pleats in the top wrap but it is lost among all the frills :-( :-( I had worked extra hard to make those pleats. The dress requires little bit more of tweaking, here n there. Neck line is a bit low for my taste so I am wearing it with a drak brown Jockey Camisole. Shoes were actually bought to match this dress, but now I have temporarily colored it a darker shade to use with other outfits also. All in all I like it, but think it makes me feel a bit girly with all the frills. But lots of lessons learnt… And now to wear it!!!
