I was going to Italy to visit my family so a made a few things to wear. This dress is made from an old duvet cover! If anyone wants to know I will dig out the pattern and let you know what brand it is etc.

It’s a vogue easy options pattern V8470. I used the bodice part of view F. But the skirt is my own circle skirt pattern, but I think that’s what went with it anyway :)

i hope this helps :) and thankyou!

Wow! What a fabulous dress!!! Out of a duvet cover? No way! It’s perfect and you have a very good figure for it!!! I’ve been wanting to make a “Marilyn Monroe” type dress (and that’s who such halter dresses bring to my mind) for the longest time, but am not sure how I would wear it (underwear-wise).

well, I can’t wear a bra with this dress as it is so low at the sides, but I adapted the pattern so now I can with another dress I’ve made..
My friend taught me a brilliant tip, you can sew any bra into a halter neck! Just snip off the straps at the back, and sew them together behind your neck :D

Interesting idea – I might try that! :-) Thank you!!!

I can’t believe you made this out of a duvet cover! The fabric is amazing, it totally makes the dress

Re: Mad Men lookalike dress. You should read up on Janie Bryant the Costume Designer for the shopw & how she gets her inspiration. Fascinating stuff for all us sewers : )

It’s stunning. It is like a dress from the series Mad Men. Can’t believe it was a duvet cover! You have a great eye.

Ciao Bella! Fa-bu-lous! Very Sophia Loren (not really Marilyn Monroe). The fabric is great too and I wouldn’t be able to tell it’s from a duvet cover.
Go and dazzle those Italianos baby! lol :-)

Wow, I thought I had a narrow waist, but your’s so tiny (in a positive sense)! The dress is just gorgeous, and the fabric is perfect. Combined with your Barbie shape (loved the CampbellTown’s comment), it’s a perfect match.
