It’s ok I wasn’t offended :) I know your intentions were good and I was happy to read the comments! You all are very supportive and I’m so glad to hear you loved my dress! so don’t feel bad :D And again – thank you both and everybody who wrote here…!

Just to be clear I love the dress!!! I added it to my favorites when I saw it. I apologize if anything I said seemed harsh, I had NO intention of doing that! I know how great it is to hear real comments, so I tried to give mine in a caring way. I am very sorry if it sounded otherwise!

It is a lovely dress as is, like I wrote originally!!!

And again GREAT job for a second dress and for a dress at all!!!

I love this dress and from what I can see, there is NOTHING wrong with it at all whatsover! For a beginner you are doing great! Keep up with good work. :-)

I’m glad you appreciated my comment – I didn’t want to sound too critical :-) It is a lovely dress and if I were you I’d just leave it as is. Taking it apart including the zipper is just too much of a bother I think. It looks good. You can apply what you learned next time :-) And I’m sure next times you will still learn more and more from mistakes – each time something new – I know I still do!

Another thing you can do which I haven’t been doing but I am considering starting to is to make a test run of the garment out of muslin or any other cheap fabric: no pockets, zippers, facings – just to make sure it fits right. Then you apply the corrections to the pattern and once you’re pleased you can sew the garment from the “good” fabric.

And only just now I see you are also from Israel! How nice! :-)

      Hi Keren,
I’m from a country where we speak our minds too (not the UK), but I felt that you were too critical of this project. While people are happy to receive constructive criticism, I felt that yours was not! You started by saying that you liked the dress, but then went on to pick on it endlessly.

I have made some very nice dresses, but I have made some not so nice ones and that’s how one learns. Though, this dress is simply gorgeous in my view and I see nothing wrong with it. Just thought I’d say it.

Love this dress! So simple and elegant. Would love to try this pattern too. You have given me more summer inspiration.

I think the dress looks great. It looks like it fits well, and I like the choice of fabric and its drape. What bugs me for some reason (and I only say this because you asked for comments so I’m sharing my thoughts) is the bust area. I thought maybe the waist belt should be higher up, so the bust area will look more right to me… But then I looked at the vogue pattern and it looks like this is how they intended it to be. Well, I don’t know then. Maybe it’s fine as it is, or maybe it would’ve looked better fitted if the bust area had less fabric (meaning, it would be a smaller size with less of a gather).

Also I wonder what other people think about the need to match up the pattern at the seams? Is that too crazy? I don’t know what I’d do.

Anyway it is a lovely dress, great work! Keep sewing!

      Thanks :)
your remarks are really important to me because I just started sewing so I would like to read comments like yours.
about the bust area – I agree that it’s too big… maybe I will try to do some alterations.
