Description

The latest release in my range of free sewing patterns and tutorials – the Summer Drape Top.

Designed for softly draping knit fabrics, this blouse is easy to make, flattering, cool and strappy, with tummy covering draping and a rounded hemline in the front. And I’ve made it with wide enough straps that you should be able to wear a bra with only minimal straps peaking through at the back,if at all. Or don’t wear a bra and let it all hang out this summer!

The Summer Drape Top comes in a one-size fits most design. The pattern is free to download and can be made from less than one yard of fabric. Great for a beach cover up too, over a bikini top, or you could even extend it into a dress.

Material Notes

I have used knit fabrics and I suggest you start here first. But this is a loose fitting pull over blouse and might also suit the right soft and draping woven too.

I love this top. Would it possible to size it up to like a 22-24? If so, how hard would it be?

Hi queenie. Its a very basic draft, so I would have thought it easy. You could probably leave the shoulder straps the same, but make the front and back collar a little wider if you needed to.
Then increase the front and back widths perhaps in proportion. So if you have a 40 inch bust, and mine is a 36, then increase the width ways by say 10%, and add a little to the length. I have no grading experience so I can’t say for sure, but this seems like a sensible way to give it a try.
