Description
Based on the Burda Pleat Front Dress 04/2012 #102a.
This summer’s heat wave drove me to make a breezy lightweight dress, and this seemed to fit the bill. The pattern, unfortunately was way too big on top, so I double pleated the back panel, and finished it by folding down the top edge and hand-stitching it.
This took me a long time to figure out because the back pleat actually weighs the fabric down quite a bit, and I kept getting an ugly hard straight edge, instead of a nice curved line. The Burda photo doesn’t show the back of the dress, and the model is wearing a cover over it, so I couldn’t get a sense of what the final product should look like. Overall, I’m just glad I was able to “McGyver” the pattern to make it wearable.

thank you so much! as a novice, i do sometimes wish there were more illustrated instructions with the Burda patterns. but i do love their designs, so it’s always a bit of a learning curve for me :)
