My first refashioning project!! I took one of mum’s old skirts that she never wore and cut it all up (with her permission, of course!). I first unpicked the yoke and then evened up the top edge. Next, I sewed a VERY basic top for the dress- just two rectangles sewn together (the front rectangle slightley wider, so the side hems would sit closer to the back). I had to double over the jersey I used because it was quite thin. I then used butterfly fabric left over from the yoke of the skirt and cut it into strips, before gathering it and sewing it into the straps. Then, I gathered the skirt so that it fit the circumference of the top I had sewn before sewing it to the jersey top. Added the straps, disguised the stitching with two large orange buttons and VOILA! A dress!
Old skirt (butterfly print fabric), Turquoise jersey, turquoise straps, orange buttons
