This bag was so quick to make. It was Kookai lightweight woollen, A-line knee length lined skirt with a burgandy lining. I found it in a charity shop & though it was wonderful, knew it was too small for me to wear but definitely not to be passed up. I shortened the skirt by approx 7’’, this provided ample outer fabric for the shoulder straps and of lining fabric to sew in a deep inside pocket set back into the skirt lining. The bottom of the skirt was sewn up and boxed at the corners to create a ‘flat’ bottom to the bag. The leather (ette?) detail around the small waist is a great feature as are the hem lines, down the front where the skirt was originally constructed. I left the small in-laid zip at the rear as an original feature but also as an means to widen access into the bag to aid ‘serious’ in-bag searching (we know what that is like don’t we?!)
second hand fine wool skirt, polyester lining, bondaweb to strength the handles.
