stylish dress book wear with freedom dress J

Ouidah, Benin

A dress made of old sheets from Stylish Dress Book by Yoshiko Tsukiori. I chose dress j so I could finally learn how to make pintucks – they’re easier than expected but I love the end result! I am going to be more careful about my pattern size next time as the size that was for me turned out to have way too much ease – makes me feel like I’m wearing a hospital gown instead of a cute dress.

I wrote more in my sewing blog here: http://cathywu.com/journal/treadling/2013/09/06/ikea-in-benin-stylish-dress-book-dress-j-bosco-is-a-heartbreaker/

You did a cracking job on the pin tucks and a size smaller would be better on you. I do.love reading about your adventures on your blog.they’re so interesting. Is bosco going with you when you return home? he’s such a cutie x

thanks for the tip about the button hole stitch (I had no idea it was any different from blanket stitch either) and the awesome continuous bis tape method (my eyes are opened)

You could sew 2 ties into the waist side seams, and tie it at the back to make it fit? I always love to see what you make
