A real flash back from the 70’s, my take on Simplicity 5250, a vintage pattern from 1972. This jacket underwent rigorous tailoring, a first for me. I used a navy cotton velveteen and lined the jacket with periwinkle/fuchsia polka dot silk twill in the body and fuchsia bemberg rayon in the sleeves. The buttons are genuine leather and seem to really complete that whole 70s vibe. I followed the pattern style mostly but added my own patch pocket, a knock off from my mother’s genuine 1970’s boyfriend jacket, and made the belt with the buttons in the back.
