I absolutely love to drape fabric on the form, and that`s how this dress was created. There are three layers of fabric (fashion fabric, muslin – which I used to anchor the folds I created on, and the lining) and it`s also fully lined. My plan for this fabric was to make a suit, but then I changed my mind and made this dress.

Thanks Elayne. I drafted the muslin base only. The folds you see on thye dress were draped and handstiched right on the dressform.

Gorgeous. I love how flawless this looks and the contrast of the draped shadow lines against the lines on the fabric.

Nice! Draping is so much fun! I wouldn`t call it easy, but draped designs always intrigue me. I hope your nieces like my project and feel inspired by it! Thanks for the nice comment!

The funny thing is that the fabric is not really grey. It has tiny light blue stripes, white stripes and this metallic silver thread running in between the stripes.

Amazing dress… I think you should made one in black for Angelina Jolie but anyways every woman who wear this dress look like a star for sure. It’s simply perfect!

Totally breathtaking! Are the top and bottom draped from a single piece of fabric?

Apr 1, 2011, 12.31 PMby marloncosta
Yes Anajan! It`s one full piece of fabric. This dress has only three seams (two side seams and one back seam where there`s a zipper). Thanks! I`m glad you liked it!
