I used McCalls 6599, a Fashion Star pattern, for this dress, but made it from cotton jersey instead of the charmeuse and crepe they recommended. I omitted the sleeves and the middle band, omitted the zipper, took out some of the circle from the skirt, shortened the hem, and made a design element out of the princess seams with my stripes.
A casual but fun dress that will get a lot of wear. More on my blog. Thanks for reading!

love your dress – i love princess seams, they give such a lovely line\fit. I read your blog entry on the making of the dress and was very entertained by the commentry on Fashion Star (I think they tried airing it in Australia but I don’t think it made it very far), thermal tights and “no rules”. However, I’ve never tried wearing wool in the middle of a queensland summer (or polyester – humidity and polyester do not mix)!
