Striped Twist Top Dress

Added Mar 20, 2012

by tsedai

Anaheim, United ...

I made the twist top dress from the 03/2012 BurdaStyle Magazine. I used striped jersey fabric to get the interesting effect on the top of the dress. I had to make a few alterations to adjust the tall sizing to fit me, but overall I really like this pattern and I plan to make it again. You can read more about this dress on my blog.

Material Notes

Striped poly/cotton/metallic jersey, interfacing.

Spring, Summer
Garment Type
Cotton, Blends, Knits/Jersey

Very weldone, the contrast of the line make it look nice and drapes smooth

well done, it looks lovely on you! Did you have a problem with the fabric being jersey rather than woven? I’ve made it with a nice cotton, but want to try jersey, too, but was wondering if it wouldn’t sag or stretch out too much? How is yours doing, and did you make a size smaller or your normal size?

No, I didn’t have any problems with the jersey stretching out or anything, but it was a really stable knit to begin with. I have worn it a lot this summer and it has lasted very well. I used my regular size and made the straps a bit shorter since it was a “Tall” pattern to start with. I also had to take in the back a bit.

It looks great! I’m planning on making it too, I wonder if check print would look good with this design…
