These are the pants that I made while filming and creating October’s kit of the month. They are made from our Pencil Trousers pattern, and I made a few modifications to them like the leather knee patches and the back pockets. The pattern and video tutorials (like that tricky fly front zipper) are all included in the kit here, so you can make your own version of these edgy pants! I love the way they turned out, and I have to say the stripe print may have been influenced by Robin Thicke at the VMA’s (laughs). I opted for a thinner stripe that makes my legs (appear) slimmer and longer. These pants are really comfortable and great for a night out! I am tempted to make a matching blazer…thoughts?
Like all sewing projects, there was a minor glitch in the road. I finished my pants and they were a little too tight in the waist, so I added another leather panel that actually blends so well into my pants’ style! Check out my blog post here, where I demonstrate how I added this section. Overall, I really enjoyed sewing this patter. Next time I would make a few fitting alteration before I completed the garment (I made a size 40 here), and change up the styling construction details.
