Pattern is ‘scout tee’ by grainline. (http://shop.grainlinestudio.com/product/scout-woven-tee) This is a pattern for wovens however the lace I used has a bit of stretch (not alot). Made a per instructions with a little added to the length of the body and the sleeves.

Due to the stretch and holey nature of the lace I was able to finish all the hems and the neckline simply by folding over twice. It took some time as I kept it quite narrow and the gaps in the lace often had to fed in under the presser foot with a ruler. I just did it inch by inch and was happy with the result. I didn’t iron the fold before hand as I found it easier to simply stitch both folds. That is, fold once at about 0.5cm and stitch close to the edge, then repeat.

All the inside hems including the sleeve openings were finished with french seams. It takes a little longer but I find that without a serger it is the neatest and most durable finish I can do.

The front is two layers so I can wear it with just a bra underneath.

Grainline features a lovely version in wool with a ‘full back’ variation (including instructions) that I’d also like to try. I just haven’t found the right wool…and perhaps more importantly I’m not allowed to buy any more fabric till the stash is busted!

Material Notes

stretch cotton blend lace. I think it might be called corded lace but I’m not sure.
