I love stretch bengaline. It’s stetchy, but stiff enough to hold in wobbly bits.
I made this dress for my sister’s wedding in January this year. I constructed the whole pattern myself, and it took AGES. I wont be doing that again.
The birds, Dodo and Noodle, are my little helpers, who chew up my patterns and crap on my fabric.

white stuff is really expensive wedding dress satin – i should have checked the price tag before i got the lady to cut it :(

Gorgeous dress, perfect for the occasion. I am a huge fan of bengaline also, and am finishing off a fitted sheath dress with peter pan collar with the smallest godet you’ve ever seen as I didn’t have enough fabric for a proper one. Drafting is most definately worth the effort, congratulations.

Beautiful dress! What an amazing finished product to show for all your work. :) The birdies are pretty, too, but I’d be pretty angry if they ate my patterns or pooed on my fabric!

Ha ha, naughty birds, luckily they didn’t crap on this fabric. It’s really beautiful, the colours, shape everything. I wouldn’t give up on drafting your own patterns, bet it gets easier the more you do and you obviously have the skill for it. So worth the effort to get something so stunning and unique! Bet you got plenty of compliments at the wedding.

It looks great, totally worth the effort! Do you have any pictures of the back? The ruched detail on the side looks really interesting, I’d like to see more :-)
