Description

I made this strapless top for my daughter using the bodice pattern from McCalls 6038, only adding a gathered frill (9cm deep) at the top. The frill hides the elastic casing underneath and the navy cotton torchon lace trim adds a nice contrast to Liberty Of London cotton tana lawn Celestial Blue ( still available at Tessuti Fabrics Melbourne).

I lengthened the bodice approx 5cm and made a casing at the hem for 9mm elastic. Another similar version can be made using this pattern from Burdastyle -

Material Notes

100% Liberty Of London cotton tana lawn, thread, 20mm elastic for top casing and 9mm elastic for hem casing.

    I love the Liberty prints (a big feature in my iPhone app, Fabric U)…adore, adore, adore! Knitters: you can get some crochet thread and whip on some trim on the fly using those public domain Victorian knitted lace patterns.
