My daughter spied this pattern at Joanne fabrics when they had the Butterick patterns on sale, so I bought it for her and set to work. This is a Bolero jacket made from Butterick pattern B5232 (Making History). It’s a Victorian styled bolero with long sleeves and trim (vew C on the pattern).Pattern instructions were good and I made a muslin of the jacket first which was a good thing, as I needed to lengthen the sleeves and shorten the shoulders slightly for my daughter. I also bound the sleeve caps and added shoulder pads to give the shoulders a little more structure.
My daughter is ver happy with her steampunk style bolero.:-)
I used a chocolate brown wool crepe with a lighter brown lining from my stash, and dark brown rickrack trim bought from Joanne’s Fabrics.
