Burda Style For people who sew
Description
I so love steampunk! And it’s been a while I wanted to do that!!! It’s my own pattern, fabric from old pants, antique lace and buttons, metallic beads, and faux pearls with metallic chain and a mini metallic abacus (which awaited for years to be used!).

Love this. Looks amazing! I saw the seams on the photo of the back and knew you used old pants…because I do that myself. Love the look the old seams give.

A little if you try to do it “the blind way” with the buttons at the back, but if you button it up with the buttons on the front and then turn the collar, no problem! :)

Here’s what wikipedia says : “Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction, alternate history, and speculative fiction (…). Specifically, steampunk involves an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century and often Victorian era Britain—that incorporates prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy.”

Get hold of the Japanese anime film ’Howl’s Moving Castle’ by Studio Ghibli – that’s a good example of the steampunk imagination!
