Description

Corset stays to be worn under pre 1800’s dresses, these are different from later corsets because they give the body a cylindrical form instead of hour glass. It compresses the bust and pushes it upwards. This fully boned stay was made to be worn with the robe a l’anglaise a la polonaise, A pattern I found on J. P. Ryan’s web site. The pocket hoops support the dress at the hips and also give storage for your fan…

Material Notes

45+ yards boning 12 metal stays, hook and eye tape, d ring tape, lacing fabric for exterior, lining and interfacing. Pocket hoops are made of broad cloth and coat hangers (used in place of round reed) The original pattern called for musket balls, however I substituted drapery weights and they worked just fine.
