Burda Style For people who sew
Description
Finally finished this coat. It went from white to cotton candy blue to spruce green. I freakin love it. And the inside is the best part!
I had some major issues with the collar. I did it like the directions said, but it ended up looking like a really sad flappy piece. So I ripped it out and pieced together a rounded collar with the few pieces of fabric I had left.
Left off one set of tabs on the shoulder, and had to take in the arms. I really didn’t want this to look like “Dad’s Coat”.

Your coat looks marvelous and your buttons ARE HUGE! I like them a lot. I can’t say that I’ve ever seen buttons this big before. I also have plans to make the Talea coat and love seeing other people’s versions. But, seeing the awesome ideas that other people use causes my initial plan to keep changing for mine! Must.Find.HUGE. Buttons.

Gorgeous coat! I love everything about it! I hope you get some use out of it this winter! I’m amazed that you dyed your own wool- so brave. The color turned out gorgeous, and you did a fabulous job! I also love the buttons, just like everyone else! I’m about to tackle my own winter coat (after Christmas), and I hope it turns out half as nice as yours! Great job!

Great job! i like the color and the style.. even the collar is perfect :) this makes me green with envy, as my coat is slowly becoming an ‘unfinished project’… almost done, but i’ve still to meke a few things… it makes me feel giulty.. it’s like …ehm, i don’t love it anymore… sigh (ok,it’s not so dramatic.. :) one day i’ll finish it!) Oh yes…the shame of buying when you know you could make it. Been there… It ruins all the joy that comes from the purchase: a little judging seamstress voice in your head.

I was worried it would be too advanced as well. It was actually not that difficult. I think that the instructions for the collar were really confusing, though. I followed the youtube lining tutorial which was also very easy.
