There’s something so harmonious + fun about wearing a girly frock in the Springtime— and we sure had fun shooting this dress under an exploding cherry blossom tree. The length of this pattern hits about mid calf and we shortened the length to make this retro look a bit more modern. The pattern also includes a petticoat-like underskirt! So charming…
Our gorgeous printed fabric is Kaffe Fassett for Liberty Art Fabrics, which was given to us to make beautiful clothing with! Thank you!
Dress: 140 cm (55 in) wide cotton fabric: 3.10 m (3 1/2 yds) for all sizes. 140 cm (55 in) wide lining: 0.50 m (5/8 in). 1 metal zip, 60 cm (24 ins) long.

Underskirt: 150 cm (59 in) wide tulle: 4.10 m (4 1/2 yds).

I absolutely love this dress, and I think you did a wonderful job! It looks very professional, like you bought it at a tailor or something! I really want a dress like that, I think it’s marvelous! I also think the shoots are perfect! I looooove cherry trees, and those pictures make me want to fly away to Wonderland! And by the way, the model is so beautiful, and I like the shoes as well. Everything is so thorough!

The dress is very pretty – love the neckline but the fabric is absolutely fabulous! Love, Love, Love Kaffe Fasset!

yeahy, just what I was looking for perfect for hour glass figures, I was getting frustrated the eighties dresses make me look like a sausage but this style looks great on me.

Love it, what a pity I’m far too old and ‘well built’ to wear a dress like that.

I absolutely love this and think I may have to hunt down the perfect fabric for my own beautiful spring dress! :) I’m also wondering where the model’s shoes are from, I want a pair tooo (of course to complete the look ;) )

They’re mine! I bought them last season from Coclico and I popped into the shop to see what they had the other day, and they’ve brought them back! The hue is so fun to mix with neutrals and black.

Hi Alison,
I´ve seen your photos and your sewing with a fabulous patern and colours look amazing. Your creativity remindes me a piece of perfection. Also I like the surrounding around model on the photos. The fens and gate are in color contrast to your dress. Well done, Alison.

Thank you so much, that’s very kind of you! I’ve always dabbled in photography and it seems to make sense, as an artist, to not just create a piece of clothing, but to create a complete vision around it. I love fairy tales and this tree + gate looked like a place you could only dream up, and it was right down the street from my house in Brooklyn!

I love the top too! I would try the top in muslin first, as I know from constructing this dress, there is not ample room in the chest area. Black with a pencil skirt would be tre chic!

i want to jump into this photo!

Kaffe Fasset does it again..and I daresay since it’s a Liberty print…your dress is bound to become a collectible. Be sure to put a label inside your dress so that one day some lucky girl can trace the history of this fabulous garment.
